Well hello there! 😉
Glad that you stopped in! I’m Tamara from sunny Central Florida! 🙂 I am married to my dear husband, Chris. We met online years ago, and he moved all the way to Florida just for me! 🙂
I am originally from New Jersey. My mom raised me in a Christian home. I came to accept Jesus as my personal savior when I was thirteen. I went to Christian school all my life…even attended a Christian college for my undergraduate studies.
My first seven years of teaching were in Christian schools. Although I loved the students and families that were part of the schools that I taught in, I believed that I could make a different impact in a public school setting.
I started to look into how to improve my teaching and determined that getting my National Boards was the best way to do that! In 2011, I got my National Boards as a Middle Childhood Generalist. I have never regretted the decision! I truly believe that it was instrumental in making me the teacher I am today!
I joined the teacher’s union when I came into public school and I’ve learned so much about advocating change for both teachers and students. I’m so thankful for the role my union plays in ensuring equity for students and teachers. I try to stay as active as I can so that I’m knowledgeable about what’s happening in my city and my state.
I started blogging in 2012 and a whole new world of awesome was opened to me! Some of my closest bloggy buddies are from right here in Central Florida, with a few scattered around the country. I am so blessed to love, and be loved by these special friends!
Today I am third grade teacher in a public school here in Central Florida. When I am not teaching, I travel often to train other teachers. I am most passionate about teaching for high engagement, using standards based teaching and rubrics to improve growth, and teaching writing. If you would like more information about my professional credentials, or would like me to come to your school, feel free to fill out the contact me section and I’ll get back to you! 🙂
When you read my blog, you will find a teacher full of passion and fire for all that encompasses education. Thanks for coming along on this wild ride with me! 🙂
XOXO,
Tamara
