An Apple A Day: CLASSROOM DECOR IDEAS

June 9, 2013 by Tamara

Hello everyone! ๐Ÿ™‚  I’m excited about sharing with you guys today! ๐Ÿ™‚  It’s been a really great weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚  Friday was my last day of school.
I can not believe that it was over just like that…but it was.

Another wonderful year has come to a close.
Then, to celebrate this wonderfulness…I had a terrific lunch with some sweet Florida bloggers! ๐Ÿ™‚
So much fun! ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a steak salad at Tommy Bahama!
Doesn’t this look amazing?

Unbelieveably…the TASTE was even BETTER than the look!
The steak just melted in my mouth!
Glorious! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m going to be linking up with Leigh from the Applicious Teacher today for her Sunday Night Linky Party on idea sharing!
As you can see from the header, each week, she would like to have us share on a different topic each week.
This week is on….

CLASSROOM DECOR

So, it’s time to talk about PIRATES! ๐Ÿ™‚
In my room, I have a pirate theme.  I really love it, and the kids get into it too! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am slowly but surely adding resources to my classroom that fit the theme.
I just made a word wall set for my room!

It’s got over 240 kindergarten and first grade commonly used words!
I think I’m going to also make some other themes as well! ๐Ÿ™‚
What do you guys think?  What should be my next theme?
I need….
INSPIRATION!
Click here for a link to this freebie!
Thanks for sticking with me through this long post! ๐Ÿ™‚
Here’s a quick pirate themed freebie for you…
Just a quick base tens game that is played in the style of the classic game, Memory.
Don’t forget to link up with your own decor ideas! ๐Ÿ™‚
Happy weekend to ya! ๐Ÿ™‚

      Hi Tamara,

I love the pirate freebie but it would let me have access. I sent the request for permission. Thanks so much for all that you do. I'm still in school, but will be making a decision about my theme for next year soon, and I so like pirates.

I love Tommy Bahama's….we don't have one in Virginia Beach, but I 've been to the one in Sarasota a few times. Best smelling restaurant EVER!

      Your room looks great!

We don't have a tommy Bahama's here, but that lunch looked fabulous! I think it's great that you hooked up with fellow Florida bloggers. How fun is that?! Your pirate theme and word wall set is fabulous! I'm absolutely certain your students love it!

Hi Tamara! I am sorry I missed out on lunch with you guys! Next time though!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Your room looks so spacious! Jealous! I miss my old room… My room was big and spacious and then my whole team moved to be in one building which was nice but the rooms are small. The only think I like in my room is the ActivBoard and my 4 computers! Plus I am with my first grade girls and that is enough for me!

Arrggg! I love the pirate theme! I did that a few years ago. We had a pirate ship on our seasonal board and gold coins with each child's name on it with a treasure chest and they were our "treasures", then we had a net strung across our (I say "our" bc I co-taught) classroom with plastic sea creatures– it was a fun theme. If you do a "classroom scavenger" hunt on meet the teacher you can make it a treasure map and have "X" mark the spot somewhere and they can pick their "booty" for showing up and doing it… The ideas are endless– and as creative as you are I am sure you already thought of them! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for sharing your room idea with us!!

      Love ya!

        Leslie…
We missed you TONS…I hope that the next time we connect you'll be able to make it! ๐Ÿ™‚ It was so much fun! ๐Ÿ™‚ THanks for the pirate ideas! Can I say that I laughed out loud when you said…'they can pick their booty'! ๐Ÿ™‚ I know what you mean, but I'm in a silly mood tonight! Those were such fabulous ideas! ๐Ÿ™‚ I'll be using them for sure!

        XOXO,
        Tamara

Pirates are such a fun theme. Our school theme this year was "go for the gold" so I had a couple pirates and treasure chests to connect the school theme with my ocean one ๐Ÿ˜‰

I just got done reading Teach Like a Pirate so now it has even more meaning.
