Peek at My Week {April 7-11, 2013}

Evening Friends!

I am joining DeeDee over at Mrs. Wills’ Kindergarten for her weekly visual plans linky party called ‘Peek At My Week’!

Dee Dee provides a snapshot of her plans with photos that link to the resources either on TPT, TN or Pinterest.  This week, I am throwing my hat in the ring with some of what I do each week! ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is my first time ever doing visual plans.  I’ve been a fan of Dee Dee’s for so long, and have found some really neat resources through hers and a few others’ visual plans, that I was really nervous about doing this myself.  Also, our county has provided us with resources that they feel are fairly comprehensive and have established rules about how many copies we can make per year, in an effort to reduce costs.  That said, my plans will not have as many files with printables as other teachers because I don’t suppliment as often as other teachers may have the liberty to do.

Since this is my first time doing this, I thought I’d walk you through what I have here.  My first page is for the morning.  You can click on the link for my April morning work to see that.  My calendar math is a work in progress and I’ve been working the ‘kinks’ out of it so that I can start sharing it next year.  The map skills unit I picked up has a neat little booklet that I’m going to use to wrap up and review the two week study that we’ve been doing.  Our story of the week from the basal is called ‘At the Crayon’ factory.  We basically use it to practice phonetic skills and fluency.

Next up, my centers.  I’m a Daily 5 girl!  I have five working literacy centers a week.  I am in a stand alone center where I do skill based work with children that I pull from the Daily 5 stations.  In my classroom, we use Raz-kids for a listening station.  (Our school bought us a licence for it a few years ago.)  The kids read to self & also read to someone.  This week in their independent writing center, they will be working on informational writing.  Towards the end of the week, they will be making ‘snow globes’ to reflect their learning of the social studies content.  In their word work stations, they will be playing some games that I made for them! ๐Ÿ™‚

This last page is for my afternoon.  Of course, we’re embedded in the Harcourt GO MATH for Florida series, but I’ve started creating some of my own centers and I often bring in centers that I get from other teachers here as well! ๐Ÿ™‚  We wrap up the day with fluency practice.
I hope you enjoyed the ‘Peek At My Week’!

I’d love to hear about what you’re teaching next week too! ๐Ÿ™‚
