Fabulous Freebies for Firsties!

September 2, 2012 by Tamara

Who doesn’t love free stuff!?  ๐Ÿ™‚

*Don’t forget, if you’re looking for a link, it’s probably underlined and in bold!*
Today, I wanted to share a few things that I found on the internet that were free and good for my firsties! ๐Ÿ™‚
First, I’d like to start off with Mrs. Reed at Flying into First Grade.  She has a ‘Spotlight on Sorts’ activity on her site that I’m going to use in centers with my students next week.  Super simple, but…effective! ๐Ÿ˜‰  Thanks for sharing Mrs. Reed!  I am one of your newest followers! ๐Ÿ™‚
Next up, Author’s Purpose Mini-Posters from Mrs. Daina Roberts!  These minis are just precious! ๐Ÿ™‚  The method of instruction for this is P-persuade, I-inform, E-entertain.  Each mini has a definition and then an example of text that would fit the category.  These are too cute to pass up! ๐Ÿ™‚  Thanks for sharing, Daina! ๐Ÿ™‚

I have my August/September Poetry Journal on my TPT page.  My students LOVE journal time! ๐Ÿ™‚  They are getting so good at reading their poems! ๐Ÿ™‚  This is great for fluency building, and meets Common Core standards as well! ๐Ÿ™‚  With help from the teacher, the student will code the text each week for rhyming words, sight words, nouns and verbs.  Check it out! ๐Ÿ™‚  I’ve gotten great feedback on this piece from my first grade teammates and plan on putting forth my October/November Journal poems very soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you found any freebies for firsties that you’d like to share?  Shameless plugs are allowed!  Just make sure that they are FREE! ๐Ÿ™‚
Enjoy your Labor Day Weekend! ๐Ÿ˜‰
