Product Swap: First Grade Smiles

April 13, 2014 by Tamara

Happy Sunday everyone! ๐Ÿ™‚
I’m so excited to be a part of a product swap with several of my favorite firstie bloggers! ๐Ÿ™‚
Before I get started…let me thank Cassie over at Adventures in Teaching! ๐Ÿ™‚

Adventures in Teaching

She got us all together for this little bit of Sunday awesomeness! ๐Ÿ™‚
Thanks so much Cassie! ๐Ÿ™‚

Meet Melissa of
My Photo

First Grade Smiles

She has a wonderful set of writing papers that are easily added to any Daily 5 writing station! ๐Ÿ™‚

I love how easy these are to use!

When you first open up the pack, you’ll see that she has some generic writing papers that could be used from Kindergarten through second grade.  The versatility in the lines can be used by writers in any stage!

Within the pack, she’s provided task cards that are not only specific to the theme of the month, but there are also options for the writing style as well!  You have a choice of opinion based prompts, narrative prompts, informational prompts, and year round style prompts to give students lots of different idea starters for writing!
My favorite part are the writing slips that are included to match the prompts!
In my room, students can use their writer’s notebooks or writing paper provided in their centers for draft writing.  Having the slips available to the children to use makes it so much easier for them to get started and be INDEPENDENT!  Just glue and GO! ๐Ÿ™‚
Every student has the purpose for their writing at the top of their writers notebook automatically! ๐Ÿ™‚  No needing to visit with me to check on what to write about!
Because of the variety of prompts included in the pack, we have lots of opportunities throughout the month for shared writing experiences!  For example, this week, we’ll be going on an egg hunt as a class!  There are several prompts that relate to an egg theme’.  Students will have the shared background knowledge to write competently about the topic!
This one pack was so good, I had to comb back through her store to see if there were others!
And guess what….
There WERE! ๐Ÿ™‚
THANKS MELISSA!!!
This week, Melissa is blogging about how she uses my fluency passages for the spring in her classroom! ๐Ÿ™‚
I can’t wait to read it! ๐Ÿ™‚  I hope you’ll check it out! ๐Ÿ™‚
