Five For Friday Linky Party

February 18, 2013 by Tamara

fiveforfridayHello everyone!  I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching again this week to talk about five random things that I’ve done in the last week. Sorry that I’ve been out of commission again! 🙁  I’ve got about five too many projects going at once right now!  I’m so grateful for the long weekend so that I can catch up on everything that I have outstanding to finish! :/  Ugh! 🙁  So, what have I been up to…let me show ya! 🙂

Katie’s Chinese New Year Pack on TPT
Here I am in my kitchen before school.  My husband took this pic.  Check out my four…count them FOUR boxes of Cheerios on top of the fridge! *face palm* *smh*  I don’t eat Cheerios…so you can guess who is hoarding them up there like a darn squirrel! LOL! 🙂

1.)  On Monday, I celebrated Chinese New Year with my firsties and my co-teacher! 🙂  We had such a good time! 🙂  Thank you so much, Katie Knight–Teacher to the Core–for such a wonderful unit! 🙂 I think my favorite part was when the kids recited either a poem from the pack or the song.  They were ADORABLE!  If you’re interested in checking out Katie’s Chinese New Year pack, please click on the caption below the picture! 🙂
2.)  I just got Krista’s new Borders Mega Pack 2!  Oh…My…Goodness!  I use them ALL THE TIME! 🙂  They are great in just about anything! 🙂  If you are creating things for your classroom…they are a definate must have!

Check out my new pack on Tomas Rivera!

3.)  I’ve been working on several projects for my classroom.  One of them is my new set of lessons on the first grade exemplar text, Tomas and the Library Lady.  It would be a great set of lessons to tie in with cultural studies…or anything to do with Mexico, since Tomas is of Mexican descent.
4.)  Chris took me out for Valentines Day! 🙂  It was really fun!  Our local high school’s culinary students were doing a fundraiser and we wanted to support them…with our tummies! 🙂  It was so much fun! 🙂  We at prime rib, roasted turkey, veggies, garlic mashed potatoes and red velvet tiramisu!  Students from the secondary schools came to perform.  My favorite performance was the middle school jazz band!  They were amazing!  Some of them had only been playing their instrument for six months, their director said!  We thoroughly enjoyed the performance! 🙂

5. Last but not least, I’ve been wrapping up my Underground Railroad Unit!  This has taken me FOR….EVER!  I will probably add more to it in the future, but…it’s pretty packed right now! 🙂  We’ve been working through the unit in class, and the kids are loving the stories and really getting into learning about the time period.  This is probably my most favorite unit to teach.  I am so glad that my firsties are loving it as much as other units I’ve taught this year! 🙂
