The Monthly Shopping Cart:August

August 9, 2012 by Tamara

This graphic was created from scratch by Ashley at The School Supply Addict.  Please do not copy or alter it in any way.  It is only to be used for linking back to the linky party I’m going to post about monthly! ๐Ÿ™‚
*Link to Ashley’s Page*

Okie doke…so, every month, I’m going to link up with Ashley to share about things that I’ve purchased from other people or stores.  I know…it’s fun to promote your own products…but, since we all spend an exorbitant amount of money on these resources…why not tell others what’s working for us? ๐Ÿ™‚  I think it’s also great to get feedback from our colleagues on TPT products that we’ve been thinking about but have not committed to.

Here are Ashley’s rules for linking…straight from her page…

  1. Write a post featuring at least 3 things that you’ve purchased (doesn’t matter when).  They MUST be from other people or a store… not your own stuff.  No ‘Me Monsters’ allowed.
  2. Tell who or where it’s from, why you bought it, and provide links to it if it’s possible.  Prices are ok, but remember they change.  You can put a price range if you want.
  3. Tell how you use it in class (or your plans for it)  and your thoughts on why it’s such a great product.  Photos are bonus points.
  4. Grab that little cart image above (Isn’t he cute?  He just screams ‘addict’.)  and put it in your post somewhere.
  5. Link up with me here at The School Supply Addict sometime each month.  It will be open from the 1st to the 31st.  I’ll post the shopping cart in the sidebar so you can easily find the party.
  6. You’re done!
  7. Check out what other teachers are buying and go shopping!
  8. Explain to your significant other why your PayPal account is way over budget.
Lest someone think I’ve gone absolutely pirate crazy… I thought I’d limit myself to posting about only one of my Pirate-centric items this time…since I am coming to accept that the whole world is not always going to need pirate stuff as much as I DO! ๐Ÿ™‚  Ha! Ha! Ha! ๐Ÿ™‚
*The ABC’s of Back 2 School*
How in love am I with this product from Rachelle Smith?! ๐Ÿ™‚
I believe that I originally found her through Pinterest…can’t really remember now, but…anywhoo…her ABC’s of Back 2 School are an absolute must have for a primary teacher! :0)  She’s come up with a kid friendly explanation for all kinds of appropriate classroom behavior.  The first day I will read the book in it’s entirety.  Every morning after that during the first week, after morning meeting, we will read a few letters of the book as a way to cement these principles into them and start out our year on the right foot! ๐Ÿ™‚  I will stop frequently and emphasize points…or ask questions about what the kids are reading.  She has included a blank copy of the page and I’ll have the kids use that to create a class book that they can  enjoy the entire year long! ๐Ÿ™‚  At the time I purchased it…it was $3.00.  Well worth the price, for sure! ๐Ÿ™‚  Thanks, Rachelle! :0)

*Pirate Math Centers- Common Core Based*
On to my next purchase…if you’re a fan of TPT and you DON’T know who Erica Bohrer is…get to know her work, for sure! ๐Ÿ™‚  Her Common Core Based Pirate themed math centers were a must have for a ‘salty dog’ like me’self! ๐Ÿ™‚  She’s included ten centers for $6.00.  They are as cute as a button and aligned perfectly to the new standards.  She’s included pictures of the students in her class working on it…so, you KNOW it’s proven and tested! ๐Ÿ™‚

*Fall Math Journal Prompts for August & September*

My last must have for the beginning of the year is Deanna Jump’s Fall Math Journal Prompts for August and September.  Here in Florida, one of the things that teachers are really encouraged to do is have more opportunities for students to journal their understanding of math and science through journaling.  This particular resource has several math problems on each page that I can just cut out and have my students glue into their journals.  They can solve the problem for their morning work and then we can discuss their answers during our calendar time…or even at the beginning of our math time together.  There’s cute clip art, and of course…it’s common core based…so…good stuff here too. ๐Ÿ™‚  At the time I purchased these they were $3.00.  Check out the preview pictures on her preview page.

If you haven’t bought these items yourself, but you were thinking about them…they really are quite nice! ๐Ÿ™‚  So, ladies…link up with Ashley and share what you’re buying in August! ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy! ๐Ÿ™‚

Your partner in education,

Tamara
