Veteran’s Day Activities

November 8, 2015 by Tamara

So many men and women have supported our country over the years.  It’s important for us to thank them for their service and to tell our students their stories.  One of my favorite stories to read to my students on Veteran’s Day is Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops.  It’s a book by Jill Biden.  Every year, I fight not to get misty at the end! So good! 🙂

After I read this story, then I use a few of the printables in this pack! 🙂

In the pack, I have a non-fiction text that we use to learn more about what Veterans mean to our country.  After reading both the fiction and non fiction texts, then we use graphic organizers or thinking maps to write our thinking for our writing.
Scaffolding their writing with graphic organizers and thinking maps really helps them to have a direction for their writing! 🙂
Here’s what’s included in the freebie!
Would you like to try a few of these pages out with your kids?

Happy Veteran’s Day!
