In the June Edition of this pack, your first grade students will cover the following skills:

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Reading commonly used words for first graders

Syllabification of one, two and three syllable words

Identification of subjects & verbs in simple and compound sentences.

Editing for the use of frequently occuring prepositions & random first grade appropriate conventions errors (The number of edits is printed in the corner of this section to aid students in self-monitoring their progress)

Vocabulary: Sortng words based on their shades of meaning; determining the meaning of a word using sentence level clues

Defining words by a category & key attribute

MATHEMATICS:

Solving story problems using a a variety of strategies including comparison, drawing pictures, and inverse operations

Addition of two-digit numbers with and without regrouping

Subtraction of two digit numbers that are multiples of 10

Reading numbers in expanded form (with and without regrouping)

Telling time to the nearest hour & half hour

Using doubles plus and doubles minus strategies to solve equations

Dividing shapes into fractional parts and writing the fraction.
