Instagram post 2194381553122395422_420119680 Creating space to let my creativity flow helps to relax me. I love to create as a teacher too! I love lesson planning. I know... probably a weirdo...Sue me! ๐Ÿคฃ
Yesterday was the living room...today is the family room and outdoor lights.
Feels just a bit more festive when I have lights!
Are your decorations up yet?
Instagram post 2194162356387708669_420119680 Good times with good friends!
We were all wearing some form of college team gear tonight so we thought it fitting to snap a photo!
Merry Christmas from the Russells and the Bells!
Next time...we gotta get a Scrabble game in @louisa0821! Thanks for coming over!!
Instagram post 2193665406223738289_420119680 Look.
I am past tired of this.
Every๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพkid๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพwants๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพto๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพlearn.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ
Period.
I don't care how they act in your classroom.
They do.
They ALSO feel a lot of other things too that keep them feeling bad about school or themselves and wanting to run.
Adults don't like to do hard things either.
That's why we procrastinate! ๐Ÿคฃ
The growth comes when we figure out how to make our situation work FOR us. We can teach kids those skills too over time.
Lemme hit you with this tho.
If your inner monologue says 'They can't'....trust it comes out in your teaching. Kids know who believes in them and who doesn't. They know they are water cooler conversation. by this point in the year? They know who the 'bad ones are'. Questions to think about:
1: Are you reflecting your kids in books they read intentionally?
2. Are you making space for kids to share their feelings to you or each other?
3. Is the culture of your classroom healthy enough to see students helping each other when they become frustrated?
4. Are you reading up on bias and how it impacts your work in the classroom?
It is not to late to make adjustments.
It is always a good thing to reflect on what is or is not working.
When we think kids don't want to learn? We are taking their disinterest personally. Maybe your season with a child is made to restore their faith in themselves. Maybe you are planting a seed.
Look for the sprout and nurture it....even if you don't get to see it until the following year.
We can do it! โœŠ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’œ
