So, some of my bloggy sisters have been gettin’ after me about my lack of enthusiasm for Pinterest.
Number Four is my close reading set of lessons on the book Quick As A Cricket! I really love this set a lot! If you were looking for something on close reading, this is a great set of lessons! The students will work on figurative language, opposites, and sorting objects by characteristics. The writing extension is dual purpose, in that there is an on grade level track and an above grade level one as well. Students using the above grade level writing will actually mimic the author’s writing structure in the story to develop their own finished work. My advanced writers LOVED this! I updated the pack and added some centers that can be used during small group instructional time. The lesson plans are explicit, so, if you’re new to this type of lesson structure, everything is laid out. If you’re an old hat…there are enough resources included that you can mix and match to your heart’s content. This pack would be appropriate for kinders towards the end of the year and firsties in October or November. Seconds would be able to use it right at the beginning of the year.
