Happy July to Everyone! 🙂 Welcome to another edition of Farley’s Currently! 🙂 This week it is being hosted by Mrs. Wilson over at ‘Confessions of a Teaching Junkie’! 🙂 She currently is teaching fourth grade, but has a wealth of experience in other grades and offers some great teaching tips! Go on over and check her out by clicking on her button! 🙂
Have you guys ever watched an episode of CHOPPED? I love this show! 🙂 Executive chefs come from all over the country to cook three plates-and appetizer, and entree and a dessert in a short amount of time. After each round, the one with the least impressive plate gets CHOPPED. The catch? They have to cook with secret ingredients provided to them by the show. The ingredients almost NEVER seem to go together…but they end up making it work! Today’s episode was all about how they needed to fry at least one ingredient from the basket.
The winner made an empanada (fried dough) with an oreo cookie and strawberry filling! She made a sweet cream out of the avocados in her basket and candied the red jalepenos in her basket for garnish!! Apparently, it was pretty good! LOL!
After four years of working nights, the hubs is now going to be working DAYS!
So glad that he’s home with me! We are having lots of fun just hanging out and talking–because we are both awake at the same time! 🙂 He’s got a great prospect for a job right now, so, we are crossing our fingers for that…but…enjoying just being able to spend time together!
Lunch today?
When I’m working I need something quick! 🙂
My September Morning Work Pack is coming along…I’m on the final stages, now, and I’m really excited about it. This one took me a really long time. Here’s a preview of the cover, and one of the coloring sheets that I’m using after the first four days of worksheets.
I’m thinking that it might be a good day to do this…
But when I checked the weather it looked like this…
This is what the hubs wanted to see…
*sigh*
*sigh*
I’m not so into zombies.
The matinee times are already passed, so…it may be that we just stay home and do this….
Which is ALWAYS fun to do! 🙂
Last thing…a blogging tip…
I started blogging last summer. It’s been a great ride so far. When I started, I didn’t know ANYTHING about blogging. I designed my own blog, and posted these loooong posts about things that I was interested in. I would host linkies and no one would come. I thought…maybe no one would ever find me, and I was just one little blip in the middle of the ‘bloggyverse’. I made a TON of mistakes, but one of the things that I know I did RIGHT was being authentic. Being genuine. And making friends in the ‘bloggyverse’ because I just wanted to have a friend…instead of more followers.
Dear bloggy friends: Daina from Sticky Notes & Glitter, Sabra from Teaching with a Touch of Twang, and Leigh from the Applicious Teacher |
These girls are bloggers too…all from Florida. I met them through a state blogger linky hosted by Fifth in the Middle. A few months later, I got the idea to host my first ‘blog hop’. I invited them to join, and the rest is history! We’ve gotten the chance to meet up on several occasions. We share ideas…vent to each other…edit each other’s products…share one another’s linkies…it’s been really, REALLY great. We talk about how to help each other get better at blogging and product creation. We joined some of the same collaborative groups and pinterest boards. We share videos with each other on how to do things–since we don’t always get a chance to talk to each other in person. There are a few other girls that I feel the same about, but we haven’t gotten to meet since they live out of state. I hope to some day get a chance to meet them as well. I don’t connect that closely with EVERY person that I meet online, I don’t try to, but when it happens because we’ve bonded over a certain movie, or teaching resource, or hobby…I remember it and continue to foster that relationship. Sabra, from Teaching with a Touch of Twang, is to my left in the picture above. I met her through this very linky! You know what we bonded over? We love the same local restaurant (Colorado Fondue)…AND are Game of Thrones junkies! 🙂 Out of all the bazillion people that link up each month…she happened to be right next to me a few months ago…read my post, and the rest was history! 🙂 It’s so cool to go back now and read that thread! How often do you get to have a play by play memory of the first time you met a new friend? Blogging is great! 🙂
I know that it’s hard when you’re starting out to know how to get followers, or get better at making things…the best thing to do is to find folks that share your vision and grow with them!
Hope you found it helpful! 🙂
Time to turn of the technology and snuggle up with my hubs for a rainy day movie marathon! 🙂
