That CAN NOT be true in a classroom! ๐ So…how about this?
They used to do this is my small Christian school…
Seriously! ๐ Classroom morale is super important! ๐ The WAY we do it is even MORE important!
I love building positive relationships with my students!
It’s the most important part of helping my students stay motivated…and willing to listen to me, even when they don’t feel like it. ๐
We have a ‘clip chart’ style of behavior management system in my classroom. Each student had a palm tree at the beginning of the year and they would ‘move their palm’ up or down.
This is a picture from when I was setting up my room at the beginning of the year.
Reward coupons! ๐
I picked them up from
Mel over at …
So far, the most popular one is ‘Eat Lunch with the Teacher’…
which I just LOVE! ๐
Primary is so fun because the kids think that we are still cool enough to hang out with…even when they don’t HAVE to hang out with us! ๐

So…you know you always have that one sweet baby who tests the limits of the reward system?
So…let me present to you…
ADVENTURES IN MOTIVATING….
True story…The picture on the left was taken during a break at a professional development training I was at. I’d been working closely with this student to have a good day on the chart. I got a text from mom telling me he had a great GREEN (which is good on the chart) day! :0) So I sent this from the training! ๐ Hooray…
A few days later, he had a rough day, and I asked him to move his palm. When I checked the board before recess…this is what greeted me. I said, ‘why did you write that on my board?’ He said…’because I thought…CRAP, there goes my weekend!’ Gosh I love that kid! Honest to a fault! ๐ He has good days and bad days, but never forgets to tell me that he loves me every Friday…and that I should have a nice weekend! ๐
Seriously, I really do have the best firsties ever! ๐
They make me want to go to work every day! ๐

What do you do to motivate your kids?

awwwww that little one who wrote crap sounds adorable- I love kids who are so blatantly honest no matter what. I had one last year – no matter what he'd done wrong he always admitted it straight away.
Anyway I came here to tell you that your video post about linking pictures was BRILLIANT! Thank you so much!
Oh, and- I'm definitely going to try out some of those reward coupons you mentioned above!
Thanks again
